At only 2-years-old, Nathaniel was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and was admitted into the pediatric intensive care unit. Within hours of his diagnosis, he received a blood transfusion, spinal tap, several doses of chemotherapy, and radiation.
In the following 3 months, he continued to live in a sterile hospital room. His body was weak, but his spirit was strong and nothing was going to stop him from beating cancer. No matter how sick he was, he always had a smile for everyone.
Today, Nathaniel is 5-years-old, and he has recently completed his final chemotherapy treatment and had his port removed. Now he is in kindergarten, where he gets to enjoy playing with other children his age.
