When Grand Terrace, California, faced widespread power outages affecting nearly 70% of the city, local business owner Jason Greeley of Lowbrow Ink stepped up in a big way. What started as a routine visit to City Hall quickly turned into a lifeline for residents in need.

“I walked into city hall early in the morning… and it was dark inside with no power,” Greeley recalled. When the city manager asked if his shop could serve as a warming and charging center, he didn’t hesitate: “I said, of course.”

As homes went dark and temperatures dropped, Lowbrow Ink became more than just a tattoo shop—it became a safe haven for students, families, and residents in need. From offering WiFi for students to charge stations for medical devices, Greeley opened his doors to everyone who needed a warm place to stay.“I had a mom come by in the evening to charge the batteries for the machine that pumps medicine for her child,” he shared. “I’m blessed to have had this experience.”

The outpouring of gratitude from the community has been overwhelming. Grand Terrace residents have recognized Greeley’s generosity, emphasizing how his efforts exemplify the tight-knit, small-town spirit that makes their city special.

“I got to see different people from the community and offer a comfortable warm place… I got to meet some real great new friends,” Greeley said.

Beyond responding to emergencies, Greeley has been a longtime advocate for preserving the city’s heritage. As a director on the Grand Terrace Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Historical & Cultural Committee, he’s working toward a vision of a “Honey Grove” of activities—an ‘Epicenter of Awesome’ focused on art, culture, and heritage.

His commitment to community service extends far beyond the recent crisis. “I love this community so much. I’d give my everything to accomplish that one thing.”

a vision For Grand Terrace, Jason Greeley is more than a business owner—he’s a hometown hero who proves that even in the darkest times, a single act of kindness can light up an entire community
