Santiago Saul Santana is a bright and energetic 5 year old Kindergarten student at Reach Leadership STEAM Academy in Riverside. With his infectious enthusiasm and positive attitude, Santiago lights up every room he enters, whether he is in the classroom or out on the soccer field giving his all.

Santiago has been active in sports since the young age of three, finding his passion for soccer where he plays both Midfielder and Forward positions. One of his favorite memories is playing for the Grand Terrace Community Soccer Club (GTCSC) with his dad as his coach. The sport has become a special way for them to bond and strengthen their relationship.

Santiago shared. “Soccer is a team sport, and without everyone’s efforts, our team wouldn’t have grown into what it is today.” His mom also plays a big role from the sidelines as she is always cheering and reminding him to pass the ball to his teammates.

When he is not on the field, Santiago enjoys watching soccer highlights with his dad and playing FIFA on his PS5. He also excels in school, where he takes pride in being a classroom leader and maintaining excellent grades.

His dedication and positive attitude recently earned him recognition as “Athlete of the Month” by Riverside community influencer Mark Menezes, known for his popular “Mark from Riverside” social media platforms that spotlight local talent, businesses, and inspiring stories.

Highlights from Santiago’s most recent game include strong teamwork, a goal, several solid passes, and the excitement of scoring his first free kick captured proudly by his mom on video.

Before a game, Santiago fuels up with his favorite meal which is chicken and enjoys apples afterward as his go to snack.

His biggest inspiration is soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he looks up to for his talent and work ethic. Santiago also gives credit to his parents for their constant support. His dad for coaching and practicing with him, and his mom for managing his social media and documenting his soccer journey.

Looking ahead, Santiago dreams of becoming a professional soccer player like his idol, while continuing to focus on getting good grades and working hard toward his goals.

A quote from his TK teacher, Ms. S, continues to motivate him, “You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit.” This simple yet powerful reminder has taught Santiago the importance of perseverance and gratitude.

Santiago invites the community to follow and support his soccer journey on Instagram @kickinitwithSantiago. Every message of encouragement inspires him to keep chasing his dreams.

We are incredibly proud of Santiago and cannot wait to watch him continue to grow, learn, and shine both in school and on the soccer field. With his determination, passion, and joy for the game, the best is yet to come for this Future Titan!
