At 17 years old, Escess Coony is a Senior at JW North High School and an outstanding student-athlete who continues to balance academics and athletics. Escess currently maintains a 3.1 GPA while staying committed to both Football and Track and Field.

Escess has played Football and competed in Track and Field throughout all four years of his high school career at JW North. One of his highlights this football season was the game against Valley View High School, in which he had the “Sack of the Night,” an accomplishment that showcased his determination, strength, and ability to make an impact when his team needed it most.

Outside of sports, Escess enjoys spending time with his friends while also focusing on himself and becoming a better student-athlete. His commitment extends beyond the football field, as he has also found success in Track and Field. One of his biggest accomplishments was qualifying for CIF in Discus. During his Junior year, he was also recognized for achieving an impressive 4.0 GPA, demonstrating that his dedication goes beyond athletics.

When asked what motivates him, Escess shared, “My family and friends are what drives me, along with my coaches who are constantly making sure I stay on the right path.”

Looking toward the future, Escess is considering several possibilities, including joining the military, attending college, or following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a truck driver. Whatever path he chooses, his work ethic and determination will be valuable assets.

A quote that inspires Escess comes from the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant: “The moment you give up is the moment you let someone else win.”

Escess also shared a message about the importance of trust between an athlete and his coaches: “I put my trust in my coaches to make the right decisions, just like how they put their trust in me to perform out on the field.”

We would like to congratulate Escess on being selected as Athlete of the Week by Coach Harris. Having watched him compete, it is clear that he has earned this recognition through his dedication, perseverance, and commitment to becoming the best student-athlete he can be.

As a special celebration of Escess’s accomplishments, he was presented with an Athlete of the Week patch for his letterman’s jacket. Sponsored by TME Photography and Harley’s, the patch represents more than a moment of recognition, it is a keepsake honoring the commitment, preparation, and passion this Huskie has shown throughout his athletic journey. May it always remind him of his Senior year, the forever memories made on the football field and track, and the people who stood behind him along the way.

Congratulations, Escess! Keep working, keep believing, and keep chasing your goals. Your Senior year is another chapter in your journey, and there are many more opportunities ahead. The best is yet to come.
