As temperatures begin to rise throughout Southern California, local public safety and health officials are encouraging residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

Recommendations include staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activity during peak afternoon temperatures, checking on elderly neighbors, and never leaving children or pets inside parked vehicles.

Healthcare professionals note that young children, seniors, and individuals with underlying health conditions may be especially vulnerable during periods of extreme heat.

"Simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke," said a local healthcare representative.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather forecasts and utilize cooling centers if needed during periods of excessive heat.
