The San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra will turn the clock back to the Roaring Twenties for its gala fundraiser, “1929: Counting Down to 100,” on Saturday, October 17. The event begins at 5 p.m. at San Bernardino Elks Lodge #836, 2055 Elks Drive. sanbernardinocc.wixstudio.com

The gala’s title points to the year the Symphony was founded. As the orchestra approaches its centennial, the evening invites supporters to celebrate the music and community ties it has built over nearly a century. The San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce describes the fundraiser as a Roaring Twenties themed gathering. sanbernardinocc.wixstudio.com

The Symphony was founded in 1929 by conductor and community leader James K. Guthrie. Today, it performs at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts in downtown San Bernardino and at venues around the region. Its work also extends beyond the concert stage through music education and opportunities for young musicians. San Bernardino, CA

That history gives the approaching 100th anniversary particular meaning for San Bernardino. Generations of residents have had an orchestra based in their own city, while students have been able to encounter live music and learn about the instruments behind it. A gala brings together the people who value those experiences and want to help carry them into the Symphony’s next century.

The organization calls this its 97th Season Gala. Its event page invites people interested in attending to join the guest list; it does not yet publish a full program or ticket price. Those seeking reservations or additional details can contact the Symphony at (909) 381-5388 or info@sanbernardinosymphony.org. SB Symphony

Event details: Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 5 p.m., San Bernardino Elks Lodge #836, 2055 Elks Drive, San Bernardino.
