At the recent Council Meeting, March 17, Council Member Dr.G (Dr. Luis S. González) presented Claudia Kirkconnell and George Sermeño, co-owners of Hit & Go Insurance Services with a Business Focus Recognition Award for their successful business operation, in the City of Colton, for 14 years. Located at 632 W. Valley Blvd, this busy insurance company has been a popular “go to” shop for an array of insurance services, both for English and Spanish speakers.
If you already know about this establishment, you know that they provide many practical and necessary services, such as notary and car registration, and auto, home, business, commercial and whole life insurance. In addition, they can assist with workers comp cases and are experts in shipping packages, large and small, to Mexico.
Claudia was part of this business when it was called Hit & Run Insurance and located in Yucaipa. The business belonged to a friend who liked baseball, and named his business after a baseball theme (Hit & Run), which included a logo featuring a baseball player and a baseball. Claudia separated in 2012 to start her own business in Rancho Cucamonga with the same logo idea, but after one year, found a better location in Colton, at Valley and Third. At that time, George was brought in as a co-owner, and together they expanded their services, changed the name to Hit & Go, and moved the business to the current location just down the street, across from the CHS faculty parking lot.
Born in Jalisco, George’s family grew up on a ranch with chickens, goats and a cow. George came to the United States in 1977 at the age of 13. Although he could not read or write he went to school and later gained employment with the Firestone Tire Company, where he worked for 14 years. He then worked at Sunrise Ford for 7 years before getting into the Insurance Business with Claudia.
Claudia was born in Honduras and came to the United States in 2005, at age 27. She quickly went to school to learn English with the goal of improving on her education and getting into business. She obtained a job as a cashier at Cardenas food store, and then sold cars at Fontana Nissan, becoming the #1 salesperson, by averaging 30 car sales a month. Shen then went into the insurance business and set out to start her own company.
Congratulations to Claudia Kirkconnell and George Sermeño for their well-deserved 14 years of business success in Colton! The Colton City Council is rooting for Hit & Co Insurance Services's continued success and recognizes them with this Business Focus Award for their hard work, great customer service, and excellent reputation--and for making a valuable contribution to our community and local economy.
