At just 17 years old, Annaleya Flores is proving that being a successful student-athlete is all about dedication, balance, and hard work. A Senior at Grand Terrace High School, Annaleya maintains a 3.4 GPA while managing a busy schedule filled with academics, athletics, and her many interests. Whether she is in the classroom, competing on the field, or supporting her teammates, Annaleya continues to challenge herself and make the most of every opportunity.
Annaleya is currently on the GTHS Girls Flag Football team, where she plays Receiver, Corner, and Safety. As a Team Captain during the program’s inaugural season, she has already helped lead the Lady Titans to a 2–1 start after victories over Colton High School and Eisenhower High School and a loss against Centennial High School.
Her performance in the second game against Colton was one of her highlights, particularly her defensive play and endurance while competing in the extreme heat. Even while battling through the challenging conditions, Annaleya continued encouraging her teammates to stay focused and keep persevering.
Her hard work and dedication have also earned her a special place in GTHS history. Annaleya will be the first GTHS Athlete of the Week recipient to receive an Athlete of the Week patch for her letterman’s jacket, sponsored by TME Photography & Harley’s. This is the first year Grand Terrace High School has introduced the Athlete of the Week program, making Annaleya’s recognition an exciting milestone for both her and the school.
There’s still more to come from this talented Lady Titan. After flag football season, Annaleya will be back on the soccer field, so keep an eye out for her and come out to support and cheer her on as she continues her athletic journey.
Her accomplishments extend into the classroom as well. Annaleya has earned Honor Roll recognition every year, demonstrating the same commitment to academics that she brings to athletics.
Outside of sports, Annaleya enjoys shopping, swimming, and baking, but when asked what she loves most, her answer is simple…sports.
When asked who inspires her the most, Annaleya didn’t hesitate. “The biggest influence in my life is definitely my mom and sisters. They have always encouraged me to keep going and work hard for the things I want for my future, not only for sports, but life in general.”
Looking ahead, Annaleya plans to attend college, hoping to spend her first two years at Chaffey College earning her Associate Degree before continuing her education at UC Davis to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree. With her love for animals, Annaleya hopes to build a career working with them, with aspirations of becoming a Veterinarian or a Marine Mammal Biologist.
She also shared a simple message that reflects her approach to reaching her goals: “Small work done consistently turns into big results.”
When asked what she would like readers to know about her, Annaleya shared that she feels her past four years at Grand Terrace High School have been influential in shaping the person she is today.
We’ve watched Annaleya’s growth over the years, and it has been nothing short of inspiring. With her versatility as an athlete, determination, dedication in the classroom, and strong support from her family, she is creating a foundation for a bright future.
Congratulations to Annaleya Flores on being selected as the first GTHS Athlete of the Week and receiving the inaugural Athlete of the Week patch. We can’t wait to see where her hard work and passion take her next. Keep shining, Lady Titan because the best is yet to come!
