Colton local, Salas is a Bilingual Attendance Assistant for Positive Youth Development for the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Salas works with about 14 schools within the San Bernardino City District. Part of her duties is to make home visits to families that may have some language barriers. Often, she says, she visits homes that have parents who speak Spanish and are unable to communicate properly with their child’s teachers. This is where Salas steps in to become the bridge that connects the parents and children to the teacher and the school.
“There was one family I visited because the child was not showing up for class and when I got there, I realized that the child was not going to school because they had no shoes,” Salas said. “So I also tell them about the school resources for families that may need extra help.”
During her free time, Salas enjoys reading the City News hard copy and online issue, reading books and being involved in different activities in the city.
“Our family misses the baseball games, we miss the 66ers because they’re here, it’s so close, we don’t have to fight any traffic or drive long distances,” Salas said. “COVID-19 caused a lot of the activities and programs to stop, I wanted to go to a lot of the ones that were already planned, but have since been cancelled.”
“It feels great to win,” Salas said. “We actually really like Domino’s and it’s so close to home, we just have to drive up the hill and there’s Dominos.”
Salas and all Domino’s customers will be at ease when they place, pick-up and or are delivered their pizza because of Domino’s unwavering commitment that the safety of team members and customers are the top priority.
Domino’s has increased the frequency of the disinfection of all food contact surfaces (including delivery bags) and other frequently touched surfaces. They also continue to emphasize the importance of frequent handwashing and have mandated the use of masks and have strongly encouraged the use of gloves by delivery experts, according to Ritch Allison, CEO of Domino’s Pizza, Inc.
“We consider it an honor and a privilege to be open and serving our communities, and we can't emphasize enough how much we value the trust you place in Domino's stores to deliver safe, made to order food,” Allison said in a May 7, 2020 press release. “We thank you for your continued support as we all work through these unprecedented times together.”
Domino’s is currently offering a Mix and Match deal, you can choose any 2 or more items at $5.99 each, a weeklong carryout deal for all pizzas, including 3 toppings for $7.99 each and a perfect combo deal for family dinner that includes 2 medium 1-topping pizzas, 16-piece parmesan bread bites, 8-piece cinnamon twists and a 2 liter of Coke for only $19.99.
